چکیده

Background: Aluminum Phosphide (AlP) is a well-known rodenticide and insecticide, used as fumigant to control pests rodents in grain-storage facilities. Its intoxication presents medical emergency that requires early rigorous management. This study aimed investigate cardiac function by Electrocardiogram (ECG) changes patients with AlP intoxication. We also explored the potential relationship between low bicarbonate function. Methods: cross-sectional investigated 42 age range of 17-47 years, history orally-administered poisoning, known “rice tablet”, admitted toxicology ward Imam Reza Hospital from March 2019 2021. The patients’ demographic data were collected trained interviewers, using pretested questionnaires. Systolic diastolic blood pressure, well samples, measured 12 hours admission. Echocardiography was performed during first on fifth-day post-admission. All statistical analysis R 3.6.1. significance level set at 0.05 for all tests. Results: In total, 48.78% presented normal levels, 24.39% 26.83% had moderate severe acidity, respectively. Moderately severely decreased Left Ventricular Ejection Fraction (LVEF) observed among 21 (51.2%) 10 (24.4%) patients, Furthermore, mild Right (RV) 11 (26.8%) patients. A statistically significant association RV (P<0.001) LVEF (P<0.001). Besides, 19.5% expired. proportion expired significantly higher function, compared other Conclusion: Acute worldwide serious problem. Severe metabolic acidosis ECG abnormalities are associated poor outcomes this respect. Thus, conducting echocardiography could be desirable instruments predict prognosis. There no antidote poisoning; thus, replacement safer agent in-store grain protection strongly suggested.

Abnormal Electrocardiogram in Patients with Acute Aluminum Phosphide Poisoning

Aluminum phosphide (AlP) is used throughout the world as pesticides to protect stored grains from rodents and other pests (Cienki, 2001). The chemical is usually formulated in pellets, granules or as a dust. Upon contact with moisture in the environment, AlP undergoes a chemical reaction yielding phosphine gas (PH3), which is the active pesticidal component and a very toxic system poison, makes...
